For me, food is more than just fuel. It brings about a sense of pleasure and enjoyment. This is why I strongly believe there is a place for ALL foods in a healthy diet. I chose the path of nutrition and dietetics because of my love for good food, cooking and an innate interest in the human body and how the foods we eat plays such a critical role in how our bodies function and feel.

I completed my Bachelor of Dietetics from the University of Pretoria and began my career at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, where I gained experience in different disease conditions in both adults and children. I worked a lot with type 1 diabetic children and adults, children in the burn unit ICU and wards, as well as surgical patients.

One of my special interests is diabetes, which is why I decided to further my studies and complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Diabetes through the University of South Wales.

I truly do ‘practice what I preach’ because what I do is not simply just a job, but a way of life. All of the recipes, tips and advice I share is from both my years of education as well as what I do in my everyday life. I also acknowledge that we all have our own definition of what a healthy lifestyle looks and feels like. I want to be your reliable go to resource for all things food and nutrition, from sharing recipes to providing you with the latest evidence based nutrition knowledge and skills to achieve your nutritional and dietary goals, whatever they may be.

My name is Lesego and I am passionate about what nutrition can do for our health, helping you understand this more, and teaching you how to change your lifestyle and eating habits one step at a time!

The first time I learned about this valuable profession in 2016, I was very intrigued by its ability to combine food and science in the best way possible - four years later, I graduated from the University of Pretoria and served at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in my first year as a Registered Dietitian. Working at the largest hospital in the southern hemisphere and the fourth-largest in the world has helped me evolve into the dynamic, devoted and empathetic dietitian I am today. I gained wealth of experience in various areas of clinical care, including nutritional management of adults and children with diabetes, renal disease, malnutrition, and weight management – to name a few.

I am fueled by my passion for serving others and the impact that food has on our bodies, our well-being and our environment. I consider myself a “forever student”, eager to both build on my academic foundations in Dietetics and stay up-to-date with the latest news in the scientific world through continued coursework and professional development. This assists me in providing you with important, up-to-date information at every consultation.

Although I love all areas of nutrition and dietetics, I have a special interest and love for paediatric nutrition, renal nutrition, sports nutrition, and plant-based nutrition. I look forward to meeting you and getting you started on your healthy eating journey!
